Ancestral ways are having a moment. From “nonna maxxing” and yiayia this and that to people claiming that the solutions to pretty much every modern problem lie in connecting with our roots.

The truth is, our ancestors' lives were not easy or perfect. This course explores ancestral traditions through a NUANCED lens. Are they a fix-all? Absolutely not. But do they contain timeless wisdom, some of which is at risk of being forgotten if we don't learn and preserve it, like, now? Also yes.

Join us for our extra mystical fall-winter edition of the Greek Mystery School, Rizes Edition, which will take us on a journey through the lens of myth, magic, clothing/symbols, ancient Greek practices, and more. As always, you can expect a bit of East-meets-West, but this particular course will also dive into more folkloric themes.

As always, the idea is to own all parts of yourself (even the darkest cobwebs), make alchemical gold out of your foibles, and ask better questions as you navigate this thing called life.  At the Ancient Greek Mystery school, you don't have to choose between thinking for yourself/research and being a bit woo.

Join us on a learning journey where we'll cultivate self-inquiry, clear negativity from our lives, live more in tune with the seasons (something hard in modern, post-industrial life), and protect our creative energy in an algorithmic world that'sincreasingly clawing for our attention.

These practices are for anyone - NOT just those with Mediterranean ancestry. If you participated last winter, this course is an excellent continuation! The material will build and expand on past themes.

P.S. You don't have to want any outcome from this - you can simply want to take part to learn and see what unfolds. Curious minds, this is for

All classes are recorded if you can't make it live. Current class dates:

Nov 8 (11 AM ET), Nov 28 (11 AM ET), and TBD for the last 3.

4 weeks of LIVE VIDEO WORKSHOPS + DOWNLOADS FOR PERSONAL PRACTICE AND PROTECTION

01

THE POWER OF PERSEPHONE AND THE FOUR FORCES OF THE GREEK DIVINE FEMININE:  Ancient wisdom for the autumn threshold… or any life crossroads. We are expanding our Persephone workshop into The Tetraktys of the Soul: an integrated four-step journey through the wisdom of Gaia, Demeter, Hekate-Persephone, and Panagia. Together, we’ll explore the myth, history, and practice of these archetypes, giving us the strength and gnosis to cross our own thresholds, shed old skins, and face an uncertain future with firm boundaries and grace.

02

THE VISUAL LANGUAGE OF SYMBOLS, MOTIFS, AND WHAT THEY TELL US ABOUT WOMEN'S LIVES: We'll explore the rich world of Greek folk motifs. We will look at stories about the women who created them and explore their beliefs and values encoded within them. Through images, stories, and discussion, participants will learn to see these traditional designs not just as decoration, but as a visual language that has carried meaning and symbolism across generations.

03

OUR MUSES: THE WOMEN OF GREEK MYTHOLOGY: We’ll revisit several female figures from Greek mythology and explore what emerges when we examine how they have been interpreted and shaped over time. What qualities have been forgotten, diminished, or made more palatable? What can we discover when we encounter these women through a modern lens? And most importantly, how can they inspire the mythic tales of our own lives?

04

PRACTICAL MAGIC VIA MEDITERRANEAN HERBS & YIAYIA'S REMEDIES: We've gone deep, delving into myth, history, goddesses, and symbols. Now, we get practical. This workshop explores Greek herbs and folk remedies. We'll also discuss the mythology and etymology behind some herbs, as well as connections to feast days and saints.

05

INTEGRATION & DISCUSSION CIRCLE: This time around, we're dedicating an entire session to integrating and connecting. We'll open with a grounding, protection-inspired meditation before breaking out into a discussion and online sharing circle to ritually close our time together.
